This 1975 DAF 66 Marathon coupe was reportedly sold new in France and modified by the previous owner in collaboration with Altena Classic & Rally Service of the Netherlands for use in long-distance rally competitions around a decade ago. The car is finished in blue with silver side stripes over a black interior and is powered by a 1.4-liter Renault inline-four linked with a Variomatic continuously variable transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional features include an AM/FM stereo, a roll bar, Cobra bucket seats with LTEC harnesses, aftermarket bumpers, front driving lights and a rear fog lamp, and digital rally timers and trip computers.
The exterior was repainted blue during the build and features silver stripes and assorted decals. Additional equipment includes a sunroof, aftermarket black-finished bumpers, front driving lights, a rear fog lamp, and chrome side-view mirrors.
The 13” alloy wheels feature DAF-branded center caps and are wrapped in Vredestein Snow Trac tires sized 155/80. Stopping power is provided by front discs with rear drums, and the car rides on Koni shock absorbers. Areas of chipped and peeling paint can be seen on the wheels, and the seller states that four spare steel wheels with studded snow tires will aLompany the car.
The cabin features black-upholstered Cobra bucket seats with red LTEC harnesses along with a matching dashboard, door panels, and gray loop carpets protected by brown floor mats. Faux woodgrain trim aLents the dash and center console, and additional equipment includes a roll bar, an AM/FM stereo, a Wayfinder digital compass, an ALusplit stopwatch, rally computer, and a RetroTrip analog trip calculator.
A leather-wrapped Luisi three-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 160-km/h speedometer and a combination gauge with displays for fuel level and battery charge. Additional instrumentation is found in the center console, along with a custom metal panel housing toggle switches for vehicle functions in addition to an 8k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and a coolant temperature gauge. The five-digit odometer shows just over 31k kilometers (~19k miles).
The Renault-sourced inline-four was reportedly bored to 1.4-liters during the build and features a two-barrel Weber carburetor. Additional equipment includes an upgraded alternator along with dual fuel tanks with individual fuel pumps. The seller notes that the distributor was replaced in February 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a belt-driven Variomatic continuously variable transmission and an aftermarket limited-slip differential. A metal skid plate has been added in front of the engine.
