This 1969 Land Rover 88 Series IIA is a left-hand-drive example that was acquired by the seller in Texas in 2001 before being relocated to Illinois and subsequently refurbished in 2018. The work included a repaint in blue, reupholstering the interior in black vinyl, and refreshing the suspension and braking systems. Power is provided by a 2.25-liter gasoline inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive and a two-speed transfer case.
The body was reportedly removed from the chassis and the front doors and weather seals were replaced during the 2018 refurbishment, after which the truck was repainted in blue. Equipment includes a removable wagon hardtop in blue and white with sliding cargo-area windows along with LED rear lights.
Steel 16″ wheels wear General Grabber HTS tires tires at all four corners, with a matching spare mounted on the rear door. A front and rear disc brake conversion was completed in 2017, and the suspension has been refurbished with replacement shock absorbers, bushings, and springs.
The repainted interior features three-across front bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl along with inward-facing cargo-area jump seats. Additional amenities include a heater, rubber floor mats, cowl vents below the windshield, and a storage area in the passenger side of the dashboard.
A three-spoke steering wheel fronts a cream-painted dash, while centrally-mounted Smiths instrumentation consists of a 75-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 53k miles.
The 2.25-liter gasoline inline-four was overhauled during the refurbishment and is equipped with a single down-draft carburetor.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, a two-speed transfer case, and Warn manually locking front hubs. The overdrive unit was replaced in May 2020.
Repair manuals are included in the sale along with a binder of documents and refurbishment information.
